Friday Fun: Exercise and Diet

Trying to get healthy?
Since nobody really likes
paying attention to diet and exercise …
Let’s laugh the whole thing off© Madelyn Griffith-Haynie, CTP, CMC, ACT, MCC, SCAC
from the Friday Funnies SeriesQuick Intro before we get to the Funnies
My previous weight-themed Friday Funny was so well-received, I think I’ll see if we can get a bit more smileage by revisiting the topic from a slightly different perspective: exercise and diet. Groan!
Running, jogging, power walking, treadmills, weights and more.
Handball, Zumba, spinning or gymnastics — boxing, hiking, climbing.
Soccer, softball, swimming, skiing, tennis, even volleyball . . .
um, skate-boarding anyone?
As one female comic put it, quite a few years ago now:
“Call it anything you like.
I call it GYM.
I don’t have to go anymore and I don’t.”Let’s take a look at the perspective of a few more diet and exercise-averse comics that I tripped across on Pinterest.
How many of the situations below make YOU nod your head?
YOU PLAY TOO
If you have something on your website or blog that relates to the theme, especially if it’s humorous, please feel free to leave a link in a comment. Keep it to one link per comment or you’ll be auto-spammed, but multiple comments are just fine and most welcome.
AND NOW for some more humor TODAY . . .
Don’t forget that you can always check out the sidebar
for a reminder of how links work on this site, they’re subtle ==>
This Friday’s theme: Exercise & Diet
(most images below found on Pinterest)
Reflections on the Gym . . .
On Jogging or Running . . .
Something Else, perhaps?
So how do you feel about your body?
Eating healthy?
Perspective: NO explanation needed
Th-th-th-at’s all folks!
SEE YOU NEXT TIME
Funnies post only occasionally
Reminding you of what I disclosed in the introduction to this series, Funnies about Perspective: unlike the ongoing Sunday Smiles and Monday Funnies you’ll find on Chris The Story Reading Ape’s Blog, my Friday Funnies will show up only occasionally, usually clustered around a theme.
If things seem to have gotten a tad serious in the world – or on ADDandSoMuchMORE.com – get ready for another hit of humor, most likely another Friday Funny.

Such a great posting Madelyn. Each clip brought belly laughs. So many I could relate to from in the gym. the research you had to do finding these is amazing. Thank you for doing so and brightening up the day for us.

It did take a bit of time, but I enjoyed every second of it. Quite the break from medical science, etc.
The toughest part about finding these was saying ENOUGH! (These are actually leftovers from the first one.) Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed them.

These are so funny, Madelyn. I am lucky, I am pretty small and I only go to Pilates once a week [and that is an effort]. I think it is really tough for people who enjoy food to diet.
LikeLike
Funny you should think being small gives you an advantage. I have always said that being tall gave me an advantage – I could eat more without gaining weight. 🙂
I’m a BIG fan of pilates. I saved for almost a year to buy myself a transformer – my Christmas present to myself shortly before I was mugged. It was, unfortunately, stolen shortly after it arrived because I couldn’t unpack it much less use it (or even move by myself) 😦
The more I read the more aware I am of metabolic disorders (or glitches in the brain) that leave many folks feeling hunger pangs more acutely than the rest of us. Yes, the rise in junk food contributes – but I also know people who eat a lot of junk and remain relatively slim too.
I have always been one of those people who forget to eat until feelings of light-headedness remind me I must – a double-edged sword, however.

Just what i needed to brighten my day! Thanks Madelyn.
Here’s two quickies: I just ran for five miles – what a workout. I was beginning to think that ice cream truck would NEVER stop. 😀
and: Whenever i finish my workout i think – W T F !
(Where’s The Food?)
love.

LOVE it! But I must say I don’t really relate to #1. When I was young and fit, I *never* had to run after an ice cream truck. They always slammed on the brakes right in front of me for some reason.
I merely went out in my shortest short-shorts, put on my brightest smile and stood at the side of the road. 🙂

mgh

I have absolutely NO doubt that would work! 🙂 – just not for me! lol.
I bet car repairers in your town loved you! – All those rear-enders from cars slamming into the back of ice-cream trucks while not watching the road in front of them. 🙂 🙂
love.

Funny funnies! Just a little note: did you know that 15 minutes of sex burns as many calories as 1 hour of walking or 30 minutes of swimming? Save time!
LikeLike
I did NOT know that! But then, I suppose it depends on how gymnastic the sex and who’s doing the “work.” lol 🙂
I also just read a study that indicates that an hour in a hot bath has effects similar to an hour of exercise. No time saved, and most exercise burns more calories (except for walking for an hour), but it seems to have positive effects on the heart, lowers blood pressure, etc. – and good to know for folks who can’t exercise. I’m fact checking now – and may write an article ere long.

Not for nothing I’ve always liked whirlpools! But if you combine an hour in a hot tub with 15 minutes of highly aerobic sex – just imagine the results!

We’d waste away to nothing in no time (unless we hang out in your kitchen – then we can eat more without worrying about it). I pick #2, don’t you?

Thanks so much for reblogging something light from me, John – especially following the more serious 3-parter you’ve been so kind to reblog of late.
These made me laugh because I have had similar thoughts about exercise myself – except for the eagerness to document my workouts on FB, of course. 🙂

My pleasure, Madelyn. Variety is the spice of life! I’m allergic to exercise. I once told my dietician that although I have no great understanding of nutrition, I know instinctively which foods are healthy for me. “Really?” Yes, they’re the ones I can’t stand!
LikeLiked by 1 person
LOL! For some reason I actually have always loved the taste of many of the foods that I since learned are good for me, and never much cared for many of the ones that aren’t. (I know – weird for a kid).
Except for sweets, of course. If they’re in the house they’re gone in a day! Giving up gluten has helped with that, since there’s much in that category I can no longer eat, but chocolate is the devil incarnate. No question what my request for a last meal would be!

Thanks, Helen. There seem to be a bunch of them out there. I finally just had to stop and post.
I was a gym rat for many years myself – especially when I was in sho-biz and appearance was so important if one expected to land work – not to mention staying in excellent shape to be able to DO the work (especially for dance shows). I loved the way it made me feel.
My reasons for not being one now are different from yours, but I know how much I miss it, so I can empathize.
