2017 Visit from St. What’s-his-Name

ADD and Christmas Too
Something wonderful from years ago becoming an OFI tradition

Merry Christmas!  I’m sharing one of my favorite Christmas presents with YOU below.

‘Twas the nite before Christmas . . .

I’m about to share one of the most clever of the versions of the rewriting of the Clement Moore original — ESPECIALLY for ADD/EFDers, ADD Coaches and everyone struggling with Executive Functioning challenges and last-minute Christmas oopses!

When you click the link below – and I truly hope you WILL – you will find only a couple of paragraphs of back-story before jumping directly into a really fun story about a Christmas that was almost a disaster.

If you have kids, you will definitely recognize many of your very own Christmas Eves when your children were little – and maybe even STILL!

So I’ll give you a taste below, and then send you over to read the rest — instead of spending my time to keep posting it again and again.  (It’s not that long, and the best part is still to come – so DO click to read it!)

If you share it (and I hope you WILL), you must provide a link back to the post and credit both the Optimal Functioning Institute™ and the author.

BECAUSE it is slated for inclusion in an upcoming ADD Anthology, make sure you don’t drop out “ownership” and link or things might get legal, okay?

Neat links to more Christmas stuff below, by the way.  Check ’em out, and feel free to leave a link to one of your own in the comments below.

IMPORTANT: only one link per comment or you’ll be autospammed.
If you have several, leave ’em in separate comments.

A Visit From St. What’s His Name

by Janine Baker for

The Optimal Functioning Institute™

T’was the night before Christmas
And all through the place
Not an item was finished
(”Twas a state of disgrace.)

The stockings were strewn
In a mess on the chair.
The dog ate the sugarplums
Batteries?? Where!!!!

“We’ve less than four hours!”
My wife said in fright.
“All my plans turned to chaos,
And the tree, it’s a sight!!”

I said “I’m not worried,”
(OK so I lied)
But the job falls to me here
To take things in stride

When my wife’s ADD
Hits its peak in December.
But this was the worst
Christmas Eve I remember.

Hehe, I always love references to ‘Twas the Night before Christmas – well done there! Ha. A few years ago, I took the eight reindeer, added Rudolph and “Olive” (because “‘all of’ the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names, lol) and wrote an article about how there are now 10 reindeer. What’s funny is that the comments I still get on that article are hilarious: what!? There’s a 10th reindeer? NO! How can you invent another reindeer?”
I always have to giggle because people either love it or just can’t fathom how I’ve made up another reindeer…even though the first nine were made up, too. And apparently Rudolph was a Montgomery Ward marketing gimmick when he was invented. lol.
Anyways, see what your article did there? It made me go on a Christmas tangent. 😉 I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
And…I saw that diddy up there about net neutrality. Allz I can say is that the sooner this entire nightmare ends, the better. *sigh*

Hello, MG! Great poem. But I liked the ‘Messy Christmas’ greeting best. Anyway, had just cleaned up my table last month, so it is not too much of a sight. It can go on for a few years!

Wish You Happy times. Love and Regards. 🙂

Loved it, and I have family connections that make it particularly logical as well as humorous. 🙂

    • Merry Christmas – and thanks for ringing in. I think we ALL have at least one of those “family connections,” Colin. formally diagnosed or not!

Although a well-known British pundit likes to say our ADD figures are inflated, he is clearly NOT an ADD expert and IS clearly substituting personal opinion for medical scientific findings.

For what it’s worth, I think the statistics are UNDER-reported, given what I know and what I see. God Bless Us every one! 🙂
