Friday Fun: More about SLEEP

Love/hate relationship with sleep?
Me too, so …
Let’s laugh the whole thing off

Quick Intro before we get to the Funnies

Since my Sleep Awareness post somehow jumped the queue and posted itself at the same time as Part-1 of my PTSD Awareness article, I decided to wait a bit to give readers a break before posting PTSD Awareness Part-2 (as well as a shot at catching up for those of you who want to have time to at least attempt to get a decent night’s sleep).

My apologies for seeming to inundate with info – certainly not intentional.

Here’s hoping that something light and humorous on one of the topics will make up for it: our mixed feelings about sleep.

We need to contribute just a bit of levity to National Sleep Awareness Week anyway, doncha’ think? (first week in June every year, btw – and it is STILL June)

By the by, if this one leaves you wanting still more (when you can’t sleep tonight either), check out my first post poking fun at sleep –  NAPLand.

How many of the situations below make YOU nod your head?

If you have something on your website or blog that relates to the theme, especially if it’s humorous, please feel free to leave a link in a comment. Keep it to one link per comment or you’ll be auto-spammed, but multiple comments are just fine and most welcome.

AND NOW for some more humor TODAY . . .

Don’t forget that you can always check out the sidebar
for a reminder of how links work on this site, they’re subtle ==>

This Friday’s theme: Sleep Struggles

Can’t get to sleep?

Blaming the Sleep Disorders . . .

NO explanation needed

Th-th-th-at’s all folks!

Funnies post only occasionally

Reminding you of what I disclosed in the introduction to this series, Funnies about Perspective: unlike the ongoing Sunday Smiles and Monday Funnies you’ll find on Chris The Story Reading Ape’s Blog, my Friday Funnies show up only occasionally, usually clustered around a theme.

If things seem to have gotten a tad serious in the world – or on – get ready for another hit of humor, most likely another Friday Funny.

Don’t forget: The next Group Coaching is enrolling NOW.

This low-cost format is designed especially to support anyone who would like a bit of professional coaching when money is tight.

IN ANY CASE, do stay tuned.
There’s a lot to know, a lot here already, and a lot more to come – in this Series and in others.

  1. Oh, my gosh…so utterly entertaining and I love the way you framed sleeplessness in different contexts…you are just so inclusive 🙂

    • Thank you — that might be one of the loveliest comments I’ve ever received. I try to be like the dogs – they’ll sniff any dogs behind, regardless of breed or color – lol. 🙂

I never thought about making sure the Funnies were “inclusive” – I just wanted to offer some variety, hoping that each person who read the post might relate personally to a at least a few, inspiring as many chuckles as possible. Thanks to your sweet comment, I will from now on!

  2. Oooops, my bad!!!!!! The “awaiting moderation”post is there indeed…it’s at the top of the page rather than the bottom of the page….sorry for the confusion 🙂

Give me Insomnia as opposed to Narcolepsy any day! Um, I think … What do I know? The only thing that makes me sleep when I’m not in bed on 3 sleep aides is “Lord of the Rings”! 😉 ❤
Peace, love & sleep for all,
Sherrie Miranda’s historically based, coming of age, Adventure novel “Secrets & Lies in El Salvador” is about an American girl in war-torn El Salvador.

Her husband made a video for her novel. He wrote the song too. You can go to the Home page of her blog to watch it:
“sherriemiranda1 dot wordpress dot com” (put it together first)
Or you can see it on YouTube: / watch?v = P11Ch5chkAc (delete spaces)
mgh had to edit the links to make this comment post – see sidebar for info about avoiding my stringent autospam feature by avoiding more than one “live link” per comment – I don’t have time to do this often

    • Thanks for taking the time to comment – and especially for the reblog, Sherrie – but you got auto-spammed!

Since I seem to attract an unusual amount of link spam (well over a million caught by Akismet alone, according to my sidebar widget), I must now personally approve every single comment that gets through – but I have to SEE it to approve it. I get soooooo much link-spam that it is *extremely* rare I have the time to dig through the trash – especially since it is also rare to find anything but page upon page of link-spam alone.

I had to edit your links to make this comment post – see sidebar for info about avoiding my stringent autospam feature by avoiding more than one “live link” per comment – I don’t have time to do this often, and I truly hate not to be able to approve and express my gratitude for legit comments.

  10. These are brilliant, Madelyn. I hope that you had a great weekend.

    • Only 2PM Sunday here, Robbie. More to go, and so far it has been lovely, thank you. I’m looking forward to a weekly Trivia tournament at Tink’s Cheers bar tonight. Tink and I go for the laughs – because he’s a lot better at Trivia than I am. 🙂

I hope yours was absolutely wonderful and that everyone in your house is healthy (and your husband got some sleep!)

      Liked by 1 person

      • Everyone is recovered on my side, thanks Madelyn. I hope the Trivia tournament was loads of fun. My husband is really good at that sort of thing. I am not great because my trivia all relates to the same topics that interest me.

        Liked by 1 person

        • Great to hear that, Robbie. I felt so sorry for you when I read how you still had to be the Mom and minister to a sick family, even though you were sick yourself. Let’s hear it for health! 🙂

And thanks, I had a wonderful time – just walked in, a bit past 1AM now. We came in 3rd (only a few points away from the top two teams). I was not a great deal of help, but I did know a Golden Girls question that no one else on the team knew and most of the other teams got it wrong, so I earned my seat tonight. lol Quite the rare occurrence, actually.

I tell everybody else that I’m the mascot, and I keep telling Tink’s team that if the category is ever neuroscience we’re gold! 🙂

Afterwards a group of individuals from several teams (20-somethings to one a couple who are almost 70) gathered around a couple of tables on the patio and talked and laughed for hours. That’s the part I go for, actually – the hit of community (following my own advice from the Loneliness posts). SO great to have friends where I live – an eclectic group in many ways, and always lively.

I rarely have more than one drink, and tonight it was only water (even though it’s a bar nobody pushes alcohol on anybody). Somebody else on the team was drinking only cola. Didn’t matter – we we’re all enjoying each other’s company.

Kind of ironic, however, since I live only a few buildings down from the bar, so I wouldn’t even have to worry about drinking and driving. In my wanton youth I probably would have bobbed and weaved my way home (and paid for it in the morning). 🙂 Thanks for asking. I loved reliving it.

So many great funnies here, Madelyn! I’m especially liking the one about the sheep being broken (although I wouldn’t like it if I was the one not sleeping!). You’re right that many of us have a love/hate relationship with sleep –>> There’s nothing quite like waking up well rested after a good night’s sleep xx

    Liked by 2 people

    • Nothing so great, that is,except for drifting peacefully off to sleep at the end of a wonderful day (or any day, actually – lol).

My sheep seem to rotate their time on duty – and the broken ones outnumber their brethren many nights, unfortunately. But I doubt that counting debts etc. would help ME much. 🙂

      Thanks for ringing in, Christy.

It’s always a relief to read that someone like you – who reads and comments on the more serious posts – doesn’t find them too frivolous.
